Bridal Photoshoots! Together with the now famous “first looks” bridal pictures are now a common part of the wedding repertoire. First with engagements, then the “save the date”, now bridals is the next step. So what are bridal pictures, you ask? Well, these are pictures that you take before the actual wedding day. Why? well the most important aspect of getting these pictures done beforehand is that you get to go to a different location other than your ceremony venue. Here in Utah people go to the Salt Flats, the red arches, or some fun location in the middle of the mountains. Then the awesome pictures can be used for display on your actual wedding day. Trust me, on your wedding day, between getting ready, trying to find your passport for your honeymoon, getting the gifts to your bridesmaids, and the rest of the items on your big day, the picture taking process can become less enjoyable and shorten in time. I totally recommend my brides to get time to do a bridal session before hand. This actually ends up being the time that they enjoy wearing their wedding dress the most. This is also a good time for you to do your trial for hair and makeup, you get to see the full effect of getting ready and wearing your dress before the actual wedding day.

Hair and makeup for commercials and productions is one of my favorite things about my job. It is always different, new and fresh. Location is one of the things that keeps it exciting. Last month I had the opportunity to be the Key Makeup Artist for a commercial for Nissan in southern Utah. It took me to see some awesome locations that I had no idea existed here in the state. The hair and the makeup was done in the motor home (see first picture below), and since we were out in nature, this was the place where we would wait for acting time. I gott to chat and get to know the talent, wardrobe specialist, and PA’s of the project. It was an amazing experience.
