With 15 years of experience I might know a trick or two to help you take your makeup skills to the next level. Makeup classes are a great way to refine your technique on a 1-1 setting that allows you to practice on your own face. Many times I have heard clients tell me that they have spent time and resources on other classes but that later they forget how to use the technique or even what product or brush to use in a specific area. This is because learning makeup by just watching doesn't work, the brain needs to connect the new material. learned with the actual mechanics of it. This is why the personal consultation has a great success of knowledge retention with my clients.
This past weekend I had the privilege to attend a Master Class, by the one and only Scott Barnes. He is widely known for the famous JLo glow look that he created for Jennifer Lopez in the iconic movie Maid in Manhattan. He has been JLo’s makeup artist for some of her major events, including her 50th Birthday Tour, the Super Bowl makeup, and most of her music videos.
In this 2 day course I was able to learn first hand from Scott himself. It was a small group of 20 or so professional makeup artist that got to experience the fun and instructional live demonstration of makeup on a supermodel on Friday night. Saturday it was all about hands-on practice, he walked us step by step on his makeup application, and then we were allowed to practice on a model, so that we could learn his technique.
My model Irit, was the nicest! and we had so much fun creating her look and got her ready for the last part of the workshop, which was a photoshoot with Scott’s personal photographer. She looked beautiful and the whole experience was a dream! I was able to learn new techniques and methods of application, but beyond that, getting to experience what is like to do the full process of makeup/photoshoot with one of the world’s renown makeup artist in the planet!
